Everytime I turn-off my computer I always have to wait for more than a minute before it will totally shuts down the system. I admit I have a lot of startup programs running but those programs used to run in my Windows XP computer, but I don’t have to wait that long. I have (1) 512MB and (1) 256MB memory installed in XP, in Vista (2) 512MB memory installed if you notice I have bigger memory now but the performance is not nice. I want to share something that might help you do the trick. Though it will not really speed-up that much but atleast a few secs will help shorten the wait time.
Tweak your Registry Editor
* click Start > type in search box regedit
* In the Registry Editor dialog box, navigate to
+HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+SYSTEM
+CurrentControlSet
+Control
* set WaitToKillServiceTimeout=20000 (which sets it to 20 seconds)
