What’s in my gadget bag?
About a year ago I took a photo of my gadgets and tagged whatsinyourbag in my Flickr account. Surprisingly most of them are still intact and perfectly in good working condition but I added more to stuffs with it. Click the images below to spot the difference.
BAGS: First of all I have several bags to store my gadgets. I have Sumdex Impluse Notebook Backpack for my laptop and other stuffs. A Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home Photo Bag for my DSLR camera. I also have Tamrac Explorer 10 shoulder camera bag I use for light travel and a Lacoste Classic Backpack bag when I go to work.
PERSONAL COMPUTER: Compaq Presario V3234TU laptop, is a 14-inch widescreen, Intel core duo processor, with Windows Vista home basic installed, upgraded to 1GB ram with a CD-R King laptop cooler, A4 wireless and wired mouse. Why 2? because when battery runs out I can use my spare wired mouse which always happens because the wireless easily drains out the battery. I used to have wireless Logitech and battery is good but it died on me. This computer is used for surfing the internet, blogging, joining discussion in forums, listen to music, creating/designing websites, photo processing photos, editing videos, and a lot more. Purchased on April 2007
SOFTWARES: To know my latest running programs, take a peek of my wakoopa account. My favourite program/browser of all times is Flock. I also use Firefox when editing/designing websites. Notepad++, an HTML editor when I do coding, debugging XHTML, CSS, and PHP files. Adobe Photoshop, a tool I use in creating/designing images and photo processing for editing photos. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, I use this on minimal photo processing of my photos. MP3 tag, an id3 tag editor for my songs.
GAME CONSOLE: I sold my old white PSP version and bought a PSP Slim Simpsons Limited Edition with 4GB memory card. It goes with Blackhorn crystal case to protect my console. It includes umd holder, earphones, screen protector, arm and neck strap, car charger and a separate black cushion pouch for added protection in case I drop it. I used to buy UMD games but I stop and just download ISO/CSO games instead. I still have 2 UMDs left, The Simpsons’ Game and Tekken: Dark Resurrection. Purchased on February 2008
MP3 PLAYER: The 5th generation with 30GB disk space, white iPod video. I carry it with generic synthetic leather/padded case for protection. I still use the original earphone. I arrange the songs by album while manually adding the album covers, I discontinued adding the lyrics on each song due to waste of time. It comes with a wired remote controller so that I don’t have use the main keypad to switch to the next track especially if my ipod is inside my bag. Purchased on November 2005
PDA: A Palm T/X, it’s a gadget to keep track of my calendar, notes, contacts, and car mileage. The device is awesome because it has bluetooth, wifi and infrared connection with 8GB built in disk space. I’ve installed a lot of 3rd party software. I make use of this as an e-book reader and audiobook as well. I carry it with Capdase leather/padded case to avoid scratches. I still have my Palm m505 with me I use it when I was in college. Though the battery doesn’t last long anymore so I keep it in my storage. Purchased on February 2007
MOBILE PHONE: a white K618i Sony Ericsson. it has 3G capable, a 2.0 megapixel camera with 256mb and 512mb memory card. I use the black SE walkman earphone, it came with my old SE w300i phone. I’m using Globe Telecom prepaid sim. I used to have postpaid plan but after I lost my old phone I didn’t bother to get a new sim card. I seldom text and call unless it is important. I don’t like forwarded messages because I automatically erase it without reading them and same goes with my network provider’s advertisement which I hate the most. Purchased on January 2007
RADIO: My Creative Muvo Slim, with 256mb disk space and leather case that came with it. I can use this as a memory stick but now its sole purpose is an FM radio. I use this device especially if I’m not in the car and tune in to Magic 89.9, the shows I often listen to are Good Times’ with Mo (6am-9am) and Boy’s Night Out (9pm-12mn). The original earphone is already broken so I’am currently borrowing the earphone of my PSP. Purchased on February 2005
CAMCORDER: Panasonic PV-GS85, a mini-dv video camera. 32x optical zoom lens, led light, and 2.7-inch LCD screen open, it can shoot still pictures with a 0.3 megapixel. A generic tripod is included in the package. I bought a separate firewire cable at cd-r king to transfer videos into my computer for video editing. I’m planning to use this for video blogging and creating amateur movie clips. I’m still trying to learn how to make videos though. Purchased on April 2008
POINT AND SHOOT DIGITAL CAMERA: Canon Digital IXUS 30 with leather case that came with it. It’s a 3.2 megapixel, 3x optical zoom, and 2 inches TFT screen with 16mb sd card. This device is more than 3 years already but boy the battery life is still in good condition. I seldom use this now since I own a DSLR. This is gadget is often borrowed by my family, friends, and cousins. Purchased on April 2005
DIGITAL SINGLE-LENS REFLEX (DSLR) CAMERA: Nikon D40, 6.1 megapixel, 2.5 inch LCD with three display options with built-in flash. 2-rechargeable Li-ion battery EN-EL9, 2-2GB sd card to store images. 2-52mm sunpak and skylite UV filter, 1-62mm sunpak UV filter, 1-72mm sunpak UV filter and 1-72mm CPL filter. Recently I got hook into Photography, actually it’s already way overdue to have my DSLR but I finally got the chance to own one. I like landscape and currently i’m into macro. Purchased on March 2008
Currently have 3 glasses:
- Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom. Purchased on March 2008
- Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom. Purchased on May 2008
- Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro. Purchased on June 2008
CHARGER: I don’t usually carry all my chargers unless I’ll be on out of town and will take 2 days or more outside metro. I always bring with me is the laptop charger. I carry along the OMNI universal multiple adaptor incase the place I’ll be at uses a different walljack. I want all my cables fastened to avoid over compression of cables from plastic cable and want my things well organize.
USB/Firewire Cables: I’m still deprive of usb port even though my laptop has 3 ports already. In order to get around with it I have a separate mini usb dock to compensate the loss. I bring these usb cables aside from the fact that I can connect my gadgets to my pc it can also be use as a charger. Incase I don’t have my chargers with me I can just plug the cable in my computer and it will start charging. I can charge my PSP, iPod, cellphone, pda, and radio. My camcorder, point and shoot, and dslr camera are the only devices that I can’t take advantage of. I might need a usb cable especifically for a particular gizmo but I’ll try to find it, if ever that happens I dont need to bring the chargers with me.
My Wish List:
- Apple Macbook
- Lowepro Fastpack 250
- Manfrotto/Benro Tripod
- Nikon SB-900 Speedlight
- WD My Passport External Hard Drive
- iPhone 2.0 or iPod Touch since I already have a 3G Phone.
- Thinking twice to sell it, too big for me
